Linda Andoh, a public relations practitioner, has advised women not to enter marriage expecting to be fully dependent on their spouses.
She believes that it is best for any woman to be financially independent before engaging in a relationship with another individual.
“There are those who believe it is the man’s responsibility to take care of them, but every woman needs to have her own source of income before marrying,” she says.
On Wednesday, she mentioned this during a conversation on Joy FM’s Strong and Sassy show.
Mrs. Andoh believes that any woman who does not achieve financial independence or is unable to meet her own personal requirements is not ready for marriage.
“I personally have an issue with women who believe it is a man’s obligation to take care of me. Yes, it is the male’s obligation, but what happens if the man is unable to take care of you? “she inquired.
“He may be the wealthiest man in the world, but what happens when he’s not there?”
She cited an example of a friend who experienced disastrous repercussions because she did not financially secure herself in marriage.
“I knew someone who got married, she worked, and then they wanted to have kids, but it was becoming difficult, so she had to give up her career since it was taking a toll on her physically, and this was what the doctors had suggested.”
