Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II yesterday, an old video surfaced online depicting several Ghanaian chiefs presenting the monarch with massive amounts of gold during her historic first visit in 1961.
The late Queen of England, her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Prince Philip visited Cape Coast in 1961, and the video shows chiefs lining up to present them with gold gifts.

This video was shot during a durbar of chiefs and people held for the Queen and her husband in the former Gold Coast capital.
The video clearly shows how the British monarchy received several gold items, most notably a solid gold miniature palanquin, which is described as the main gift from the Fante chiefs.
