According to AdomOnline, a father who was caught on video abusing his three-year-old child has been arrested.
Richard Kofi, the perpetrator, was apprehended on October 5th, 2022 in Jasikan, Oti Region.
In the video, a man claiming to be the boy’s father knocks him off his feet with what appears to be a bush branch before launching into a horrific assault while the child screams in terror.
Despite the child’s cries for help, the perpetrator lifts him up and continues to beat him. In the video, he spanks the child at least 21 times.
Unrest erupted in Akaa Buem as police officers entered the community to apprehend the perpetrator.
He was driven in a Toyota vehicle to the chief’s palace, where he was informed of his alleged offense.
The suspect’s wife, who appears to live separately from her husband, was also detained.
The child was also taken from the home and placed in the custody of the police.
In a statement issued the day before, police offered a GH2,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
The suspect stated that he had done nothing wrong while being transported out of the area.
People who called the cops on him reported hearing him swear and threaten them.
