Ransford Gyampo, Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the University of Ghana’s Centre for European Studies, believes the president should be sued.
According to Professor Gyampo, the refusal of Nana Akufo-Addo to reshuffle his cabinet and fire finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta is the root cause of the country’s economic crisis.
“You cannot tell me Mr. Ofori-Atta is the best Finance Minister Ghana has ever produced or that there is nobody in the NPP who can run our finances better than him,” he said on Joy TV’s Newsfile.

He went on to say that, given the crisis that the President’s opposition to public counsel is causing, someone should consider suing him for causing financial loss to the state as a result of his failure to tap into the best minds the country has to offer.
“There are brains and talents that are going to waste, and I’m saying that tomorrow or someday in the future, someone should be able to test this in court, suing the President for causing financial loss to the state by not bringing on board the brains and talents that could have helped steer us, navigate us through the crisis we’re in.” Why are we squandering them?

“…And I’m saying that failure to reshuffle is tantamount to the dissipation of the limited human resource that we have that can be brought on board to help us navigate our way out of the quagmires of economic misdirections which we find ourselves,” he added.
