Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has slammed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yet again for failing to keep his promises to Ghanaians.
In his most recent letter, the country’s first special prosecutor described the president’s tenure as one marked by greed and selfish devotion to family and friends.

According to Mr. Amidu, President Akufo-Addo squandered a golden opportunity to cement his place in the country’s good graces.
“Mr. President, you appeared sincere as the person to be trusted to turn the fortunes of this country around by your promises and entreaties to Ghanaians to try you as our elected President.”
“Time has revealed your tenure as our president to be one of squandered opportunity, greed, avarice, and selfish devotion to your family and friends, who comprise your government, and the foreign governments and associates you are more eager to please than those who elected you to serve our country,” Martin Amidu writes in his statement.
The Ghanaian lawyer insists that recent developments and challenges to the President’s authority within the New Patriotic Party are more than enough evidence for him to stop referring to his government as “family and friends,” a government that cares for Ghanaians.

Martin Amidu believes that President Akufo-Addo’s record demonstrates that he will be unable to stabilize the economy and alleviate Ghanaians’ sufferings before leaving office.
“The trust you have lost within your own New Patriotic Party is ample proof, if proof were needed, that as a lame duck president, you cannot restore economic stability and provide relief to the poor between now and December 2023 (let alone by the end of the election year 2024″),” the former Special Prosecutor adds in his statement.
