Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Finance, has responded to disgruntled Ghanaians who have heaped hot coals on his head and demanded his resignation due to the country’s deteriorating economic situation.
Mr. Ofori-Atta told members of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) on Thursday that he has felt the ‘pain and aches,’ but is more concerned with how the country will overcome its challenges.

“You have a Finance Minister who has gone through all the pains and aches, and no one can really come and say ‘we don’t understand what we’re doing,'” he explained.
Ken Ofori-Atta has been under intense pressure to resign in recent weeks due to what is believed to be gross mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy.
Members of his own party, including some Majority MPs, have backed the calls and threatened to boycott government business if he is not fired.
Mr Ofori-Atta, on the other hand, has expressed confidence in the country, saying it is destined for greatness.
“Let me assure you that Ghana is still your best bet; we can and should do it.” The question is, “What resources do we have?” and “How are we going to deploy them in our nation?”
“… and how do we stand firm in very difficult circumstances by being very confident that the nation is purposed for greatness and that you are blessed to be able to lead us where we are going?”
