In Lagos, a young man carrying a bag of dead babies and acting like a mentally challenged person was apprehended by an enraged mob and nearly killed.
Passers-by saw the unnamed man’s bloody sack on the Cele Expressway in Lagos on Sunday and confronted him immediately.
When questioned, he allegedly gave unconvincing explanations before fleeing and diving into the lake to avoid capture. According to an eyewitness, he was apprehended and turned over to the police after being pursued by the mob.
“We noticed his sack was dripping blood and we enjoined some street urchins to help us query the man further. He quickly ran into a lake but he was caught. We opened the sack and saw fresh dead babies.
When we questioned him about what he was doing with the gruesome items, he refused to answer but admitted to killing the mother of the babies. “We handed him over to the police because we were afraid he would be lynched,” an eyewitness said.
