Coach Otto Addo became the first Ghanaian coach to win a World Cup match after leading Ghana to a victory over South Korea in the team’s second match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Both Serbian coaches, Ratomir Dukovic and Milovan Rajevac, led the Black Stars to two victories in 2006 and 2010, giving Ghana its previous four World Cup victories.

Ratomir Dukovic led Ghana to a World Cup victory over the Czech Republic and the United States in 2006, and Milovan Rajevac led Ghana to a World Cup victory over Serbia and the United States in 2010.

Coach Kwesi Appiah, the first Ghanaian to lead Ghana to a World Cup competition, failed to win a single game during the 2014 World Cup.

In addition to being Ghana’s first victory under a Ghanaian coach, Ghana scored three goals for the first time in World Cup history.

Ghana defeated South Korea in a thrilling 3-2 match in which Mohammed Kudus scored a brace to keep the Black Stars thriving in the tournament after narrowly losing their first game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
