Thomas Teye Partey, the Black Stars deputy captain, has dismissed criticism that he does not give his best performance for the national team.
A draw is enough for us against Uruguay – Otto Addo to Ghanaians
He stated that he mostly follows the instructions of the technical team and that everything he does is for the benefit of the team as a whole.
Speaking ahead of Ghana’s crucial World Cup match against Uruguay in 2022, the Arsenal midfielder stated that he always gives his all for Ghana.
“Most people expect a lot from me but we are playing as a team and I listen to the coach and do what he tells me”.
“You know you can do something better but you have to stick to what the team wants and not individuality”.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s match, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez said Ghanaians’ hatred for him is misplaced.
Ghanaians, according to the former Barcelona goalkeeper, should instead direct their rage at the player who missed the resulting penalty from his handball.
Despite the fact that Suarez was sent off for his unsporting behavior and Ghana was awarded a penalty, Asamoah Gyan missed the spot.
Uruguay eventually won the game 4-2 on penalties, advancing to the World Cup semi-finals at the expense of Ghana.
