An Accra Circuit Court has remanded former light heavyweight champion Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku, for allegedly stabbing a man.

According to the prosecutor, the boxer and some friends caused mayhem and attacked others in Bukom on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.

Ishmael Neequaye, the complainant and a neighbor, stated that the noise in the area woke him up from his sleep. He admitted that he attempted to restore calm.

However, the prosecutor stated that when Bukom Banku saw the complainant, Ishamel Neequaye, he broke a bottle and gave it to his son, Mustapha, who stabbed Ishmael. The complainant was rushed to the Korle Bu teaching hospital after Bukom’s son thrust the broken bottle into his abdomen.

The police reportedly attempted to arrest Bukom Banku and his son on several occasions, but all efforts were futile. The two were apprehended after being served with a criminal summons.

The two pleaded not guilty, but the presiding judge, Justice Adelaide Abui Keddy, denied them bail.

The boxer and his son have been remanded in custody until Monday, December 19th. However, the third accused, 32-year-old Prosper Quaye, is on the run.
