Kennedy Agyapong, NPP MP for Assin Central, took part in the debate at the National Cathedral. Despite the president’s pledge to God, the MP favors using public funds to build the Cathedral.
He believes that despite the economic situation, this Cathedral is a good idea that must be realized.
The lawmaker stated that when completed, the cathedral will be a significant investment for the country, and he has asked Ghanaians for public funds to build it.
The MP, who hopes to win the NPP primaries and run for president in 2024, advised Ghanaians to disregard the cost.
According to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, the Cathedral would increase tourism and revenue. Because government funds are insufficient, millions of Ghanaian cedis have been squandered.
The government has budgeted 80 million Ghanaian cedis for the National Cathedral for 2023.
Despite opposition to the cathedral award, the majority of Parliament supports its President.
