Christian Atsu’s wife, a German singer, author, and dancer has come under fire from Ghanaians for not being in the country to mourn with her late husband’s family.
Marie-Claire Rupio, who has been married to the Ghanaian footballer for about 11 years, has taken to social media to mourn her husband in response to the insensitive and rude comments made by some social media users.
Among the lovely photos are one of the late writers with their daughter and others of Atsu with herself and their two sons.
Marie shared the black-and-white photos on Instagram.

All of her posts lacked a caption, implying that she is at a loss for words to express the level of grief she is experiencing with her family.
This is a response to the critics who have been putting pressure on her to come to Ghana to mourn her late husband since the news of his death broke online.
According to Ghanaian traditional customs, the wife of the deceased Ghanaian international player Christian Atsu Twasam, Clarie Rupio, is expected to be present to mourn with the family.
The wife of Atsu—in this case, the widow—must stop whatever she is or may be doing and come to Ghana to console the family on the player’s death, but she has yet to arrive.
