Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked outrage among Nigerians, particularly Rema fans, after sharing a video of his children dancing to Rema’s hit song “Calm Down.”
Rema released his debut studio album, Rave & Roses, in 2022, which included the song “Calm Down.” It was released as the second song from the album on February 11, 2022, by Jonzing World and Mavin.
The song topped charts across Europe, including Belgium’s Ultratop 50, the Netherlands’ Single Top 100, and the Dutch Top 40. On August 25, 2022, a remix of the song featuring American singer Selena Gomez became available.

The new version peaked at number one on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs and Billboard Global Excl. US charts, as well as number three on the Global 200 list. The abundance of comments that followed the video indicates that Ronaldo’s appreciation for the music has brought him new Nigerian fans.
