Madam Gifty Pomaa, the headmistress of MalamKrom L/A Primary School in the Bono Region’s Wenchi Municipality, is accused of suspending classes due to a missing 2,000 GHC from her bungalow.
According to Angel FM in Kumasi, the headmistress shut down the school after accusing certain students of stealing her money.
The incident occurred on Monday, March 13, 2023, and there was no active teaching or learning going on as of Monday, March 20, 2023.

According to Mr. Ankomah Kennedy, Chairman of the School Management Council (SMC), the Headmistress made the decision on her own without consulting with any other community members or stakeholders.
Madam Gifty Pomaa, the school’s elementary department head, also prohibited those in charge of the school’s feeding program from preparing meals for the kids throughout the week, insisting that things would return to normal once she received her money.
She also allegedly threatened any teachers who disobeyed her ruling.
A few teachers told the Angel FM reporter, on the condition of anonymity, that the headmistress had told them not to teach until the students repaid the money that had been taken.
Since then, the issue has been raised with the District Education Director, who has called a meeting with SMC to try to resolve the impasse.
