Kelvynboy, an Afrobeats artist, and his management team have stated that they do not believe in any form of the Ghanaian award scheme.
In response to a question from radio host Abeiku Sanatana about whether he would win Most Popular Song at the upcoming awards, the “Down Flat” singer stated, as expressed by a member of his team, that he did not trust organizers.
“I’m not sure… (pauses) and to be honest, we don’t trust them; even the Grammys have issues with it,” he said.
Kelvynboy who is a former winner of the Unsung Artiste category at the VGMA’s explained that all the other competitors were extremely good and losing out to any of them will hurt really bad.
“If I don’t win it, I’ll be hurt but there are other equally popular songs on there and I deserve it too if I pick up the award. When I looked at the nomination, I saw other very good artiste there so it’s cool whichever way,” he said
Kelvyn Boy was nominated for Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste and Most Popular Song of the Year at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, which were hosted by Charterhouse.
